Billing & Subscription Issues
Payment declined, a plan that isn't reflected in your account, or a receipt that never arrived.
My payment didn't go through
Plotmuse subscriptions are billed through PayPal. If checkout failed or your card was declined:
- Re-run checkout from Dashboard → Subscriptions, or from the plans page if you're not yet on a paid plan.
- Confirm the card or PayPal balance you're using is valid and has funds — PayPal reports the decline reason on its own checkout screen, before control returns to Plotmuse.
- Try a different payment method attached to your PayPal account.
I paid, but my account still shows as unpaid
PayPal confirms a subscription in two separate steps (activation, then the first payment settling), and there can be a short delay between paying and your account updating.
- Give it a few minutes, then refresh Dashboard → Subscriptions — most upgrades reflect within that window.
- If it's been longer than that, contact us with the email address on the Plotmuse account and, if you have it, the PayPal transaction ID or receipt email — that's enough for us to look the payment up directly.
I didn't get a receipt email
Receipts are sent to the email on your Plotmuse account (not necessarily your PayPal email, if the two differ).
- Check spam/junk for a message from Plotmuse.
- Your billing history is also always available in-app at Dashboard → Subscriptions, whether or not the email arrived.
Canceling or changing plans
Manage or cancel your subscription from Dashboard → Subscriptions. A cancellation stops future billing but doesn't retroactively refund the current period — if you believe you were charged in error, contact us and we'll take a look.
