Exporting & PDF Problems

Export won't start, or fails partway through

• Make sure the script has finished loading and autosaving before exporting — exporting a page that's still mid-load can produce an incomplete file.
• Try again after a refresh. If it fails a second time on the same script, contact us with the project name — exports are logged on our end.

The exported PDF doesn't match what I see in the editor

• Title page details (title, author, contact info, draft date, copyright) come from the Edit Title Page dialog, not the script body — if those fields look wrong on the PDF, update them there rather than in the script text.
• Formatting like scene heading capitalization and parenthetical punctuation is applied automatically at export/print time; it's normal for the editor and the exported page to render it slightly differently while you're still typing.

A Final Draft (.fdx) export or import lost formatting

• Only the first and last run of bold/italic/underline in a line is preserved across an .fdx round-trip — formatting in the middle of a line can be affected. Re-apply it after import if needed.
• If an imported .fdx file looks substantially different from the original, re-export it from its source application and try the import again — a small number of Final Draft files use structure we don't fully support yet.
