Uploads & File Import Issues

An image or file that won't upload, an import that fails, or storage that's running low.

A file won't upload

  • Check the file type — image uploads (moodboards, character/location references, profile photos) expect standard image formats (JPG, PNG, WebP, etc.); a script import expects Fountain or Final Draft (.fdx).
  • Try a smaller file if it's unusually large, or re-save/re-export it from its source application — a corrupted or oddly-encoded file is the most common cause of a silent upload failure.
  • A flaky connection can interrupt an upload partway through — retry once on a stable connection before assuming the file itself is the problem.

"Storage limit reached" or uploads stop working across the account

Each plan includes a storage allowance shared across every project's images and files. If you've hit it:

  • Remove images or files you no longer need from your projects' media libraries to free up space.
  • Check Dashboard → Subscriptions to see your current plan's allowance, and whether upgrading makes sense for how much you're storing.

See Exporting & PDF Problems — the same formatting notes apply to .fdx imports as to exports.

Still stuck

Contact us with the file type you were uploading or importing and roughly how large it is — that narrows things down quickly.
